Let Not Your Hearts Be Troubled
Jesus talks about the Father's house and the many mansions in that house. Then he said that he left this earth to prepare one for every born again believer.
First, we see that there is no such thing a "just a little cabin in the corner of glory land. Jesus speaks here of "many" mansions that he goes prepares for "you.

Could this not mean that he is preparing an individual, luxurious apartment, condo, townhouse or mansion for each of us individually. Second, could this not mean that he comes for us as individuals only when he has finished the construction of our individual mansion?
Third, could this not mean that, until our private mansion is finished, no power on earth can kill us? Finally, could this not mean that when he finishes our private mansion, no power on this earth can keep us here?

Suddenly, there appeared another set of footprints out of nowhere. Jesus suddenly appeared and walked and talked with them. There is something about the recognition of being out of control that totally derails us. Nothing rattles me more than unexpected changes of plan or expectations being disappointed.

And yet, Jesus knew their hearts. Matthew says he knew their hearts. He knew when they were grumbling Jn , he even knew who would believe in him and who would not Jn. So he knows this news will rattle them. And he provides a way out from despair.
We have been so hardened by sin that oftentimes biblical counsel can be delivered like lemon juice on a cut. It may be good counsel that we sinfully harden our hearts against. Jesus was not patronizing, Jesus was not promising physical safety or freedom from hard times. He reiterated over and over that there would be suffering and trouble Jn. And indeed the history of the Church is soaked by the blood of believers who have had trouble.
Our own sins and the sins of other wreak havoc on our hearts and bodies.
